WHAT. SOYP is an annual two-week event series, which brings together and leverages the
voice of young Philadelphia. As 2012 continues to evolve, so does State of Young Philly. This
year’s series will build on previous year’s efforts to engage, connect, and represent the young
demographic by turning ideas into tangible outcomes in a few key topic area tracks: Education,
Sustainability, and Economy.
HOW. SOYP features a variety of events that will appeal to both novices and experts. Each
track will also host a competition where individuals – and teams – are eligible to enter and
develop projects (anywhere from planting trees in a neighborhood park to an education-based
application). The winners of these competitions will be announced and provided a cash prize at
the Final Showcase on Saturday October 13th.
WHO. State of Young Phillyis organized by Young Involved Philadelphia and supported by more
than 50+ organizations throughout the region. Over 1,000 young professionals, elected city
officials, and organizational leaders are expected to participate.
